The Book Publishing in a Nutshell
The exact process of book publishing will vary depending on the salability and fame of an author and the standard procedures of the publishing firm. Typically, a publishing house can either commission manuscripts or negotiate for them with authors. After this is done, the design of the book will be discussed. The next step is editing the manuscript, a process that is dramatically different between different publishing houses. The next step is layout- this is the step where pictures or things other than text are positioned. Next is proofreading and after this, typesetting, a process now done by computers. After this, the piece is sent to the printer and then the work is distributed.
