I learned how to publish a book by being a car detailer.

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I am an aspiring author. I am currently working on a manuscript. In the meantime, I have to pay the bills, so I am a car detailer. I work for a car rental company. After the autos are returned, I clean them out and get them ready for the next person to rent. I often find things that people leave in cars. Usually I find cell phones, phone chargers, cd players, mp3 players, and spare change. Recently, I found a briefcase that contained information on how to publish a book. It was a stack of papers… instructions on self-publishing. After finding anything in a vehicle, we contact the person that last rented the car. If the items are not claimed within thirty days, they are ours for the keeping. I’ve been able to keep a lot of nice things, mostly electronics. But, my most recent find - the book publishing materials - were the most valuable things that I have come into possession of. I no know what I need to do after my manuscript is finished.
