Merlin’s Project Magic

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

We run an office that has a combination of both Mac and Pc platforms so it is important to us to have a management program that can speak to both worlds.  When we looked at Merlin Project Management we knew we had found what we were looking for.  We can enter our data on the Mac and can read it on the PC with the MS products.  Not only can we track orders and activities we can also tie all communications dealing with the project together.  All emails, all files,  and everything that has been generated in relation to the project can be called up and accessed.

The Employee Recognition in My Business is Great!

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

When I go to business meetings and events for my at home business, the company has wonderful recognition and rewards for all who have done well. While I have never used the Kudos Employee Recognition Program before, it seems like a good idea. The concept is for employee bonding and for a stronger, happier team. This is accomplished by managers sending interoffice emails to their employees awarding Kudos points when an employee does something well or above the norm. A goal is usually given, for example: Whoever gets to 2000 points first, gets a certificate to go to lunch. There is a screen where you can see your points and those of everyone else.

Business: Finance and Accounting Solutions.

Friday, November 14th, 2008

What solutions are there for Finance and Accounting in business? Some businesses choose to have a full staff in their accounting department, and others choose to take a different route. This route is a great avenue for opening new, more flexible jobs. This avenue includes utilizing outside services through F-A Outsourcing for their accounting and finance needs. Many accounting firms can use this concept to offer more jobs, and increase sales while keeping down the cost of hiring new staff. The technology of this era has afforded many individuals the opportunity to work from home for these outsource vendors. I feel to outsource offers a wonderful service for any company who wants a better, bigger support system, and customer care.  Many individuals in need of a job are experts in j2ee and other high tech programs.

Normally I prefer a more flexible approach, but it’s clear we need more organization here.
Ok - that’s it for today.

Talking About Six Sigma

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

I’ve been told the best way for a company to gets its act together is with six sigma. I wonder if we shouldn’t check out six sigma as a way of streamlining our operation.
Six Sigma Green Belt Training looks like the way to go for us, although it will be a tough sell for upper management.
If my former business partner’s experience is any indication, six sigma could really make a big difference for us in terms of the bottom line.
I’m sure I’ll have more to say about this down the line.
