Catching up with technology is working!
Friday, September 12th, 2008I admit to being technologically challenged. I know that the computer is a part of our lives now, and in a big way. My boss tells me all the time that anyone who is not computer proficient is a bit of a dinosaur, and has convinced me to take a little time every week to learn something about a certain program or other. This week the subject was Microsoft PowerPoint which they tell me has revolutionized the art of presentation technology in the last decade or so. I thought to myself “In that case it must be very complicated and difficult to operate.” Boy was I wrong. When I opened the program, which I also understand is part of Microsoft’s Office suite, I surprised and delighted to discover how simple and user friendly it was. Most of the icons used in it are compatible with Word and Excel which I use a lot, so I felt immediately at home. Each page or slide that I created in my trial PowerPoint presentation, can be stage managed and you can even add animations, sound effects and even video, although this is a bit ambitious for me at my learning stage. What I found especially interesting was that you set up the presentation so that the slides can only be changed manually. Think I might spend some more of free time learning more about this program. Maybe I have caught the bug.
