And while not considered to be toxic (on their own) when mixed with a variety of other compounds they can have serious interactions with drugs you may be taking already to achieve weight loss (like Lasix). In addition if you are on lithium or digoxin herbal diuretics have a history of interacting with these medications.

Herbal diuretics trick you into thinking you are getting thinner. You’re not. You are merely losing water weight. If you take these kinds of products too long, the loss of water will leach sodium and potassium from your body. The best method to achieve the same effect is drink lots of purified water. You’ll lose excess water weight, hydrate your skin, and get other health benefits.

I’ve done a lot of online searching on popular diets. It seemw preety clear that the bulk of them are , in fact, fad diets. Very few rely on the dieting basics of balance, reducing calories the gradual way from acroos the food pyramid and exercising more.  All so basic as to be totally boring if you do’nt spice it up somehow.  I think the best adsvice I could find was daily weigh-ins and keeping a food diary. Even that is hard to do to find the time for that in a busy woman’s day.  But believe me it’s well worth it.  You have nothing to fear but fear itself to paraphrase FDR. And it’s true of the healthy dieter too.  Be determined, make your plan and stick to it.  When you slip and you will. , get back up, dust yourself off and snap back on to the plan.
