Salary may varies on the spot where they are assigned to work, the perceived staffing needs by the director, the need of the hospital or nursing unit, and the capacity of the traveler to settle. There are great disparities when a travel nurse assigned in different locations of the country. In general, the southern areas in the United States compensate lesser than in the north or west areas due to higher housing costs that can have a large impact to their salaries and wages.
